Disable Game Center in OS X “El Capitan”
I don’t play games on my Mac. I have never played games on my Mac. I don’t want to play games on my Mac. But Little Snitch tells me that Game Center is constantly phoning home and is clearly doing stuff.
Here’s how to shut it down:
- Open Terminal (you’ll find it in Finder > Applications > Utilities);
- Type: launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.gamed.plist;
- Press enter;
- Voilà! Game Center no longer runs.
- Quit Terminal.
(With kudos to Fabio on this thread in the Apple forums.)
